Indidesign was responsible for the complete transformation of the property interiors touching upon every inch of the resort, including the design of the Arrival Experience, Porte Cochere, Lobby and Lobby lounge, Pond Walkways, Guestrooms and Suites, Meeting Spaces, Pool Bars, Market, Spa and the Design and Execution of a New Lounge with unique “pied dans l'eau” experience.

The design concept was inspired by a poem found in the Bishop library that describes the light rain and mist that sits on the site in the early hours of the morning when the water surges from the mountains and moves from the Mauka towards the Ocean. This is called the PA’ Ū-PILI mist. The fog then dissipates when the sun starts burning through, the Paupili settles and it rests on the Pili grass leaving a “million points of starlight”.

The act of revealing is a metaphor that represents a journey of inner self discovery, positive energy and wellness, capturing the essence of the Westin brand values. The concept of soothing energy that is gently exposed by the filtered light, morphs into a progression of physical spatial experiences.

The design of the space is calming, bright but not loud; sophisticated and “pure”; in deep contrast with the commercial and loud experience found in other properties in Kāʻanapali.
